On a recent trip to the heel of the boot of Italy I discovered the amazing Cathedral of Otranto. What I found so amazing was the enormous mosaic covering the entire floor depicting the Tree Of Life -- supposedly the work of a single monk around 1163. It looked to me like some kind of ancient outsider art.
